Marcel Cordes, Executive Director

Marcel has worked for SPORT+MARKT in several functions since 1994 and has played a strong role in helping the company to the position it enjoys today. In 1999 he became a Partner and Member of the Board of SPORT+MARKT. From 2005 he has been Executive Director and Chairman of the Management Board of SPORT+MARKT AG, responsible for Sales, Marketing and Operations. His excellent international market insight, wide network in the field of sport business and strong management skills make him an important contact partner for our clients and he is also responsible for the global expansion of the company. Marcel studied Mathematics and Sports Science in both Bremen and Cologne.

Bernd Schröder, Chief Financial Officer

Bernd joined the group with 20 years financial management experience and general management expertise. Having worked with SIEMENS for 16 years in various financial positions, lastly in a key senior position in M&A, he moved to a medium-sized IT System House as CFO and Partner in 2000. With his strong skills in finance and operations, he has directed SPORT+MARKT as CFO and Director of Human Resources since 2005. Bernd holds a degree in Economics from Ludwig Maximilian University Munich and a MBA certificate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Jens Falkenau, Head of Project Management, Member of the Board

Jens worked for a market research institute in Nuremberg as project manager before joining SPORT+MARKT in 1999. In 2005 he became a founding member of the Management Board responsible for Market Research and Project Management. He has extensive research experience ranging from empirical methods to international project management. In addition, he brings with him innovative methodologies, such as neuro-psychological research, contributing to the successful consultancy of our clients. Jens studied Psychology and Economics at the University of Wuppertal. He is currently working on his doctorate at the German Sport University Cologne on the subject of “The implicit impact of sport sponsorship”.

Stephan Schröder, Head of National Account Management and Sales, Member of the Board

Stephan has worked for SPORT+MARKT since 1998 in several positions from project management and public relations to account management. In 2005, he became a founding member of the Management Board and the Head of Corporate Communications. Furthermore since 2007 he has been responsible for the national account management. Based on his long-standing experience of sponsorship research, he supports rights holders and brands in the optimisation of their sponsorship engagements. Stephan Schröder studied German Language and Literature, Politics and Historiography at the University of Cologne.

Andrew Walsh, Head of International Affairs and Account Management, Member of the Board

Born in England, Andrew has gathered more than 16 years of international experience in consultancy and marketing, with almost 14 of those years specialised in the field of sports business. Initially, he worked in classical advertising before moving to Germany, where he was a member of the Marketing Division of Mercedes-Benz at their Headquarters. Joining SPORT+MARKT in 1997, he has lead the development of the International Division, managing the key accounts of T.E.A.M., UEFA, FIFA and the Premier League, amongst others. In 2005 he became a founding member of the Management Board and Head of International Affairs.

Thomas Zimmermann, Head of Marketing, Member of the Board

Thomas has been responsible for Marketing, Product Management and Market Intelligence at SPORT+MARKT since 2006. As of 2009 he has also been a member of the Management Board. He looks back on 18 years of professional marketing and sales experience in corporate, agency and media, bringing with him a wide range of market and client perspectives in the field of communications. Initially he worked as Marketing Manager at Pernod Ricard Deutschland, followed by various marketing and sales functions at Pro Sieben Media AG as well as one of the leading media agencies for Out-of-Home Media, most recently as Head of Marketing and Sales. Thomas studied International Economics.
